Anthurium 

Also called 'flamingo flowers' or 'Hawaiian Heart' for their unique tropical shape and bright white, green, red or pink flowers. They flower indoors for very long periods of time, making them perfect for year round color in your home. 

Light: Anthurium prefers really bright light. They grow best in very bright indirect light. 

Water: Soil should be kept lightly moist and never allowed to dry out completely. 

Soil: They prefer course, well draining soil mixes. Similarly to orchids, they usually grow on other plants in the wild. If they begin to fail to hold themselves up, give them a stake or trellis to climb on. 

Temp: Anthuriums are tropical plants. Recreating a tropical environment will give you the best sucess with these plants. Keep between 65 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. 

Safety: Definitely poisonous. Just because it's pretty, doesn't mean it tastes pretty.
